YOU PICK Highbush Blueberries OPEN last week of July at Circle B Farms. It does not take very long to fill a bucket when the picking is like this, Circle B Farms has 21 varieties on the farm. Size, early, mid, or late season all things that change the flavor just enough so you will want to come back every week to see what wonders you can find hiding in the berry patch today.
Second load of handpicked Highbush Blueberries today headed for the packing line. These scrumptious blueberries will be cleaned packed and in the grocery store by 7am tomorrow. We have a delivery truck on the road 6 days a week through the harvest season. We also deliver our frozen blueberries all winter long and fresh vegetables as well.
We buy in Bumble Bees every year as they are a big part of pollination for all orchard crops. 4 hives in a quad will pollinate 1.5 acres of Highbush Blueberries for the season. Bumble Bees do not make honey, they just buzz around kissing the blossom to make our fantastic Highbush Blueberries.
Goals for Homegrown By Heroes
• Provide farmers who served in the military distinctive marketing/branding power to their locally grown and raised agriculture products at the point of sale.
• Afford consumers the opportunity to identify agriculture products produced by proud veteran-farmers at the point of sale.
• Afford consumers the opportunity to support proud veteran-farmers by identifying and purchasing their agriculture products at the point of sale.
The Homegrown By Heroes marketing initiative will afford farmers and/or agricultural producers located within the United States and who have served in any of the branches of the United States Military (U.S. Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard) the ability to use the Homegrown By Heroes logo on their agribusiness signage and/or agriculture products. This distinctive logo will serve as identification to prospective consumers that the products were locally grown or raised by a veteran. From the grocery shelf to the farmers' market to on-line retail, this label will hopefully serve as an extra incentive to consumers when making a purchase decision.

Circle B Farms Sam and Patty Blackstone
Circle B Farms is owned and operated by Sam and Veteran Patty Blackstone in Caribou, Maine. The farm sits along a beautiful hillside along the Aroostook River and has incredible views of the surrounding countryside. Covering many acres of the farm is an apple orchard as well as highbush blueberries, which produce fruit for hand picking and commercial sale. Patty and her husband Sam are both committed to hiring Vets to work the farm in order to support the Veteran community.
